Which insurance plans do you accept? None. We are not set up with any insurance programs for medical and nutrition services. |
Why don’t you accept insurance? We tried. Our first two years in business in Jackson, TN (2012-2014) we were enrolled with most insurance plans and tried to operate like most other medical offices regarding insurance billing. It failed miserably, and had we continued to operate under the insurance model we would have gone out of business. In contrast, we have continued to grow our business over the past eight years without advertising, by providing the highest quality care possible without being restricted by insurance contracts. We quickly realized our comprehensive services were rarely covered by insurance. Our focus is on building health, not treating sickness. The insurance model is a sick care model. Wellness, preventive, and hormone services are only minimally covered if covered at all. |
What about labs? My insurance covers lab work. Patients often make the erroneous assumption that just because they have insurance it will cover all of their lab work. That used to be the case to some extent, but more recently insurance is not covering lab work well. Insurance will often cover more basic tests, but not the detailed hormone and wellness labs we routinely check. For tests not covered, the charges may exceed the cash price. There is no easy way to know what insurance will and will not cover beforehand. There are certain diagnosis codes required for certain tests. In order for some tests to be covered, patients would have to have a particular diagnosis. Most patients would rather avoid being given multiple diagnoses that will potentially increase insurance premiums and label them as having preexisting conditions. |
What if I submit the claim myself? Whether we submit the claim, or you submit the claim, it is essentially the same as far as insurance companies go. We do not provide diagnosis or service codes for this reason. |
